Most people – me included – consider this the season of gratitude and giving back. It's been a rough several years for many people. As I've traveled the United States and the world for both business and leisure, the struggles that many communities / people face are apparent. Every day, organizations and hard working people find it increasingly difficult to thrive (or even survive) in a global landscape where opportunity is at a premium.
Despite that, though, I witness many profound things happening.
In my role as an HR Consultant, I work with many companies that are trying to create dynamic, employee-centric workplaces that provide the kind of environment where employees will want to stay for the long haul. Similarly, many of my Resume / Career Development clients are enhancing their skills and rejiggering the way that they view themselves so as to better compete in the new economy.
I want to take a moment to say how happy I am to be able to work with these types of forward-thinking organizations and individuals. Each day, I am inspired by the hope and persistence that they exhibit. Together, we are holding strong – and staying positive – in difficult conditions.
Let's not forget that many people in the United States and across the globe continue to struggle. Each month, more and more people find themselves among the ghosts of society – people who are left behind. This season, if you are able, please carve out some time to honor our co-world-citizens who are fighting to stay above water. In a world with so much wealth, no one should be without food or shelter.
Remember, we're all in this thing called life together. It's short. Let's watch out for one another.
