"Pretty much everyone needs a resume, and a lot of these people aren't accustomed to having to use one."
That's what a coordinator for a return-to-work program told me when we chatted recently about what Tandem can do to help her clients (as part of our Tandem Empowers program). She was speaking about how the people in the program she oversees really struggle to find the right words when putting resumes together, as nearly every job opportunity now requires one. Sounds familiar, doesn't it? I assured her that the problem she speaks to is pretty universal - even for people who have been using resumes for years.
The question is always the same.... How do you present yourself in the best light possible? If you're in the middle of of putting things together in order to embark on a job search, remember the following: stay calm and focused, network, find support from others in similar situations, pursue positive outlets (exercise!) and - of course - be sure that you have the best job-search documents possible!
